Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Training (Level 2)
Course Overview:
This training includes the level of action following abuse concerns when known and addressing the next steps of responding after concerns are reported.

Course Topics:
- Registered health care staff working with adults who engage in assessing, planning, intervening and evaluating the needs of adults where there are safeguarding concerns (as appropriate to the role). All staff at Level 2 will have the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values outlined for Level 1 and should also be able to demonstrate the following:
- Understands how abuse, harm and neglect can impact personal identity throughout the life course.
- Understand the significance of health deficits on health and well-being through the life course, for example, homelessness, loneliness and poverty.
- Understand the legal, professional, and ethical responsibilities around information sharing, including the use of assessment frameworks.
- Understand the best practice in documentation, record keeping, and data protection issues about information sharing for safeguarding purposes
- Be familiar with the guidance related to participation in safeguarding enquiries and reviews.
- Understands the professional duty to report crime in line with organisational and professional guidance. Understands the importance of establishing, acting or making a decision in a person’s best interests as reflected in legislation and key statutory and non-statutory guidance.
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the course, the participants will be able to:
- Identify possible signs of sexual, physical, or emotional abuse or neglect using a person-centred approach.
- Identify adults experiencing abuse, harm or neglect who have caring responsibilities, for other adults or children and make appropriate referrals.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding, as appropriate to the role, of forensic procedures in adult safeguarding
- Ensure effective advocacy is provided, where required.
- Identify your professional role, responsibilities, and professional boundaries and those of your colleagues in a multidisciplinary team and multi-agency setting.
- Know how to be able to document concerns in a manner that is appropriate for adult safeguarding protection and legal processes.
Target Participants:
This course is designed for all practitioners who have regular contact with patients, their families or carers, or the public and have completed Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Training (Level 1).
Duration: 3-4 hours or ½ day
Certification: Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Samson Training certificate.
