Nursing home and older person services
Nursing homes are inspected by HIQA. Find courses that link to the rules behind them.

What training does a nursing home team need?
The regulations for designated centres for older people (S.I. 415 of 2013) say staff must have "access to appropriate training" (Regulation 16), and they name fire safety, evacuation and first aid (Regulation 28). An amendment (S.I. 98 of 2025) added suitable training on infection prevention and control. HIQA's national standards are what inspectors use.
Start with these
- Fire safety: Fire Safety in Residential Care
- First aid: First Aid Response (FAR) or Basic First Aid
