Where Experience Meets Excellence

Functional Capacity Assessment & the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015

The Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015, as amended, provides a legal framework in Ireland for supporting individuals who may require assistance with decisions relating to their personal welfare, healthcare, finances and other aspects of their lives.

This one-day professional training course provides participants with an understanding of the legislation, its guiding principles and the practical application of functional capacity assessments within healthcare, social care and related professional settings.

The course explores the presumption of capacity, supported decision-making, individual rights and the responsibilities of professionals when concerns arise about a person’s ability to make a particular decision.

Participants will also examine the four elements of the functional capacity test, appropriate assessment approaches, documentation requirements and the role of the Decision Support Service.

Through practical case studies, group discussions and scenario-based exercises, participants will develop a clearer understanding of how to support decision-making and apply the principles of the legislation within their professional roles.

Recently Booked an IOSH Health and Safety Course through Samson. Samson did not directly provide the training but I found them easy and reliable to deal through they found a course provider to best suit my requirements. I really enjoyed the course and the course instructor through her own experience was able to provide real life examples of Health and Safety Issues. There was interaction with Q & A’s between different sections of the course which kept the course interesting.
