Course Background:
This course is designed for instructors already qualified as a patient handling instructor. By completing this RPL course it allows instructors to upgrade their certification to FETAC Level 6.
Course Content:
- People moving risk assessment
- Demonstration of people handling moves
- Practise and feedback on people handling moves
- Explanation of FETAC assessment criteria
- Use of hoists and other equipment
- Assessment on people handling moves
- People handling instructor test

Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course participants will gain the relevant skills and knowledge to:
- Assess the relative danger or safety of patient handling tasks
- Recommend preventive measures which can reduce the risk of injury
- Lift and handle patients safely
- Identify risks and recommend control measures
- Instruct others on the theory and techniques of safe patient handling
This Course is Designed For:
Current manual handling instructors looking to upgrade their qualification to FETAC standard.
Training Methodology:
This course is classroom based; it is highly interactive with role-playing and practical exercises to reinforce understanding and learning.
What to Bring to the Course:
Participants should wear comfortable clothing for practical activities. There will be extensive moving and stretching involved.
Duration of the Course:
2 days.
Participants:
A maximum of 12 participants per course.
Certification:
On completion of this course, participants will receive a FETAC level 6 Instructing Patient Handling certificate.
