Dangerous Goods Initial Course

Course Background:

This course is essential in accordance with ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation), IATA (International Air Transport Association) and IAA (Irish Aviation Authority) for staff of operators and agencies acting on behalf of operators performing the functions of ground handling, storage and loading of cargo, in the transportation of hazardous goods by air.

Course Content:

  • Contents of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations Manual
  • Packing, marking, labelling and documentation requirements
  • Correct protocol for dealing with radioactive materials
  • Dangerous goods classes and divisions
  • Identification of dangerous goods

Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this course participants will have gained the skills and knowledge necessary to:

  • Apply regulations to identify, pack, mark, label and document dangerous goods
  • Perform the responsibilities involved in accepting, storing, loading and inspecting dangerous goods
  • Apply IATA’s DGR manual and complete dangerous goods transport documents correctly
  • Understand the legal responsibilities involved with the transport of dangerous goods

Any employee involved in the safe transport of dangerous goods.

Training Methodology:

This course is classroom based; it is highly interactive with role-playing and practical exercises to reinforce understanding and learning.

Upon successful completion of this course participants will receive a dangerous goods initial certificate.
