This course is essential for anyone required to use a chainsaw. Felling timber using chainsaws is one of the most dangerous tasks carried out on farms and in forests. 6.5% of all deaths on Irish farms are chainsaw related. This course will teach participants the necessary knowledge and skills to minimise the dangers of working with a chainsaw.
Process individual windblown trees
Operating a winch
Assessing windblown trees and deciding on the appropriate technique
Cutting windblown trees using correct technique
Cross cutting under tension and compression
Removal of hazardous limbs
Regulations and safety requirements relevant to windblown trees
Dealing with dangerously hung-up trees
Upon successful completion of this course participants will gain the skills and knowledge necessary to safely operate and store a chainsaw.
This Course is Designed For:
Anyone required to use a chainsaw.
This course is classroom based and it is highly interactive with role-playing playing and practical exercises to reinforce the participants understanding and learning.
What to Bring to the Course:
Participants should wear comfortable clothing for practical activities. The basic chainsaw training course must be completed prior to this course.
Duration of the Course:
A maximum of 6 per course.
Upon successful completion of this course participants will receive a certificate in advanced chainsaw training.
